Geert Wilders Sam Gamgee Rumor Quashed
Publicists for prominent right wing anti Islam campaigner Geert Wilders have moved to quash rumors that he is to play an older Sam Gamgee in a movie sequel to Lord of the Rings.
According to rumors originating at Unviersal Studios, where filming on “Beyond the Lords Ring” is about to commence, Geert had auditioned for the role of Samwise Gamgee, and had been accepted for the part. Production insiders had reportedly considered him a natural, and his striking similarity to the original Samwise (played by Sam Astin) sealed the deal.
Set 20 years after the original events of Tolkiens The Lord of the Rings, the movie has the original characters of Lord of the Rings re-unite to battle a threat from 9 hooded riders who have terrorized Bree into a state of submission, and lurked around The Shire looking for a Mr Baggins of Bag End.
Some industry onlookers considered Geert as a natural for the role, although there was concern that his part in a battle against hooded invaders would be used as a parallel to his campaign against Western Islam.
However, it seems that we’ll never find out whether Geert, famed for his movie Fitna, would have made a good hobbit – publicists have quashed the rumor as nothing more than malicious gossip.
